This month sports brand Nike launched their first plus size clothing range.
The range features over 200 products for women who may normally find it difficult to find sport clothes which fit. Back in July Nike hinted at launching a new line of clothing for plus size women. Posting on Instagram:
‘Welcome to Sports Bra 101 ???? Fact (1 of 4): Most women wear a band too big and cup too small. Raise your hands above your head. If the band moves up, you may need to size down. Learn more through the link in our profile.’
The collection ranges from sizes XL-XXXL and includes leggings, t-shirts, sports bras, shorts and jackets all suitable for working out. The sports bras are available up to size 38E and in a range of colours.
Whilst many women have supported the line, there are of course others who opposed it. Twitter was buzzing with people accusing Nike of promoting obesity and an unhealthy lifestyle.
Fortunately there were more who supported the line, praising Nike for realising that plus size women need appropriate clothing so they can work out easier.
Not only has it boosted women being able to work out comfortably, but it has also boosted the confidence of many plus size women as they feel they now have more recognition that exercising isn’t just for slim women.
